1. How does homeopathy work?
Homeopathy works very differently from modern medicine. Instead of jumping to attack germs and take over the body's functions, it assists the body in defending & healing itself, and correcting imbalances that create the disease state to begin with.
Homeopathic medicines stimulate the body’s energies and align them to work in harmony resulting in balanced energies that bring good health.
Did you know that fever is the body’s reaction to fight an infection by raising its fire - fighting unit of white blood cells. By giving drugs to suppress fever, we’re actually stopping the body from doing its work and reducing its capacity to defend itself in future. Homeopathy does not attempt to remove or suppress symptoms, it tries to discover and remove the cause of the symptoms. And therefore Homeopathy is a holistic science which integrates healing of mind, body and emotional state.
A homeopath works like a detective, looks for clues (symptoms) which will lead him to understand the internal state of health and then put the clues together so they make a whole picture that points out to the internal disturbance. He does not rest when the symptoms have gone, he ensures that the cause is gone too and the symptoms do not return.
2. Can I take other medicines with homeopathy?
If you are under medication for high blood pressure, diabetes, heart conditions and such, you need to continue taking those medicines as prescribed, and take homeopathy medications with a one hour gap on either side of the dose.
3. Does homeopathy have a placebo effect?
Homoeopathy is a system of alternative medicine created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann, based on his doctrine of like cures like. Hahnemann himself was a trained physician of medicine. He and other doctors of his time have verified the efficacy of this branch repeatedly. If it were to have a placebo effect, it would not prove to be effective in new born babies or animals.
Homeopathy works because it is a verified and proven system of medicine.
And lets suppose, for argument's sake, we stipulate that homeopathy works on a placebo effect, what is the harm in that? As long as you get the desired effect, does it really matter whether you believe the medicines did their job or that the placebo effect worked? Net result? You are better...
4. Does homeopathy really work very slowly?
That depends on the chronicity of the condition. In case of acute conditions like fever and seasonal infections, its quick acting. In long standing chronic conditions like asthma and rheumatism, or hyperacidity and chronic constipation it takes longer, simply because the illness has had time to get a grip on your system. Vomiting and diarrhoea caused by food poisoning can be cured quickly, while diabetes can be managed well over time, yet cannot be cured. Supportive therapy for surgeries can shorten recovery and wound healing, but old hernial tears that were operated on can be strengtehned over time, but not cured.
